In last year's midterm elections, a record-setting 42 new women were elected to Congress. Today, they were sworn into office in a historical ceremony of the most diverse "freshman" class to ever take on Washington D.C. The best part? These women are really, really excited about it. Here are some of the sweetest things they posted on social media in honor of the big day.

Rashida Tlaib, Representative, Michigan 13

Rashida shared two pictures leading up to the swearing-in ceremony, one thanking her kids and one showing her new office on Capitol Hill.

Her sons literally dabbed as she cast her first vote, which is iconic.

Ilhan Omar, Representative, Minnesota 15

Ilhan shared the incredible story of how her father came to Washington D.C. 23 years ago as a refugee.

Debra Haaland, Representative, New Mexico 1

Debra posted pictures of her mother during the open house, and she wore her Pueblo clothing to meet people.

Marsha Blackburn, Senator, Tennessee

Marsha posted the pictures of the ceremony on Twitter.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Representative, New York 14

Alexandria, who's usually really vocal on social media, has been relatively quiet today, but she did wear white in a poignant tribute to the suffragettes.

She also read cards her friends wrote her as a way to get mentally ready for the day, she said on her Instagram Stories.

Kyrsten Sinema, Senator, Arizona

Kyrsten didn't post anything herself, but a reporter pointed out that she is the first openly bisexual senator in U.S. history.

Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Representative, Florida, 26

Debbie posted this cute picture with her kiddos.

Katie Porter, Representative, California 45

Family and friends joined Katie for the swearing-in, which was coincidentally on her birthday.

Mary Gay Scanlon, Representative, Pennsylvania 45

Mary Gay not only posted pictures with her colleagues, but with her family. These captions might make you tear up, fair warning.

Donna Shalala, Representative, Florida 27

Donna didn't post a picture of her swearing-in, but she did subtly roast The New York Times a few days ago, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Mikie Sherrill, Representative, New Jersey 11

This picture of Mikie's daughter and family will literally warm your heart. She had a whole crew accompany her to D.C.

Tina Smith, Senator, Minnesota

Tina's husband Archie Smith made a quick cameo in this video she posted about how excited she was to get sworn-in.

Abigail Spanberger, Representative, Virginia 7

Abigail posted some cute before and after shots of the day.

Haley Stevens, Representative, Michigan 11

Haley said the feeling on the floor of the House was "sensational" this morning.

Just got the keys to our offices! It’s happening...🙂

Veronica Escobar, Representative, Texas 16

Veronica's husband is stoked to get his spouse pin, which is adorable.

Katie Hill, Representative, California 25

Literally just prepare to cry.

Kendra Horn, Representative, Oklahoma 5

Kendra posted this picture entering her office for the *very first time*.

Ann Kirkpatrick, Representative, Arizona 2

Ann's family joined her in her office for a pic.

Susie Lee, Representative, Nevada 3

And Susie's family joined her, as well.

Barbara Lee, a veteran representative of California, welcomed her new female colleagues with some adorable selfies.

So did Jan Schakowsky, a representative from Illinois.
