3 Simple Strategies For Boosting Website Traffic You Can Implement Today

If you haven’t started focusing on the visitors of your website as much as you've been your blog, it’s time you and your team shift focus.

Think of a few of your favorite websites. What types of content do they have?

Personally, I’ll give it to Hubspot any day of the week for having one of the best blogs. But, more into that another time.

Google’s algorithm is always changing.

Everyone knows that, and everyone has his or her theories on how to adapt.

Then there’s another group of people.

The ones who don’t have to “adapt.”

The ones who have been doing it right the entire time.

The ones who have been publishing desirable content, and not just in words.

Despite all this back-and-forth on what helps your website rank, real engagement on your site is increasingly important not only for search engine crawlers to see, but to genuinely provide useful information to your visitors.

And yes, Google knows how engaged people are when they're on your site.

If you follow through with what’s outlined here, your website will rank better, drive more visits, shares, and ultimately - clients, brand awareness or any other goals you may have.

Big promise? Yeah, maybe.

Of course, there are other factors you should take care of such as website speed, on-page optimization, and obtaining quality links back to your content.

However, I’ve ranked sites without all of that.

It makes it easier when you add it all to the mix to create the perfect SEO picture though. Therefore; I would not ever recommend ignoring the other 200+ ranking factors.

Learn to engage with your market through these outlined techniques, and you will be favored not only by website visitors but by search engines as well. Now, that is what I call a win-win situation.

If you've just been writing content, and adding blogs on your website, then wondering why your blog isn't attracting thousands of readers - it's time to add visual elements to your website.

Before you go crazy adding pictures to all of your already-published content, take another look at it and make sure you have great content.

Also, use tools such as Grammarly and Readable.io to get more detailed insight on your copy and make sure it isn't duplicate content.

According to Joe Pulizzi of Content Marketing Institute, there’s one main rule you have to remember:

Nobody cares about you, your services, or your products. They care about themselves.

Your first focus should be to stand out from the 100 other websites your visitors are going to every day.

How? The answer is simple:

  • Teach them something.
  • Answer their questions.
  • Give them something of value to take away.

Your second focus is conversion optimization and sales.

Now the question is, “How do I create a positive impact on these people?”

I'm going to start with two of my three favorite types of content to incorporate into blogs:

1. Infographics

Designer:

Rick Mans

2. Creative Photos

These two things represent the creative and illustrative depiction of what you are trying to convey. To see excellent examples of creative photos, check out any blog post on https://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/

Creatives and infographics can include elements like charts, colors, images and just about any other type of graph. They all tell your story so that the target audience can easily understand you.

According to a Twitter survey I ran, half of the people voted that they like to see infographics on websites.

Why?

Most people are visual learners. According to Pearson Education, 65% of the population consists of visual learners.

Infographics are the easiest way to keep someone's attention and get your message across.

Thankfully for those of us who aren’t masters of Adobe Suite - there are programs which enable you to create infographics in no time. Check out websites such as Canva and Piktochart.

It's important to remember that humans do not have a very long attention span. Infographics and other visuals combat this by matching text with visuals in the right proportion. Also, visuals take less time and mental energy to process.

Ever heard the saying; “A picture is worth a thousand words?”

Here are reasons why I agree:

  • Pictures and infographics enable you to create an experience.
  • They capture the attention and engage your visitor in reading and participating in what you've got going on in all that content you just wrote.
  • A great picture and infographic with the proper ratio of text to visuals could richly determine the impression and reach of your content in my favorite way - organically.
  • Infographics and pictures also help create a loyal audience - instrumental in brand awareness.
  • Utilizing visual representation of data means your site visitors can skim your infographic, get the information required and then stay a bit longer to check out what else you have to offer, or they may even bookmark your site for later use.
  • An excellent infographic or picture could be re-shared for years after its creation. The readability and visual attractiveness of infographics make them accessible to a larger pool of people, who will likely share the content - growing your brand for years to come.

Now for the third and final element, videos.

Have you given thought as to why YouTube ranks after Google as the second largest search engine in the world?

Internet users have an abundance of data and limited time to read through large amounts of text.

People want to access information in visual form so that it's easier, and faster to comprehend.

And not only are videos great for visual learners, but also for people that are auditory learners. And just like that, you've now increased your audience.

Oh, and lowered your bounce rate. Which also helps your rankings.

This is why videos are such powerful content mediums. According to SEMrush's recent study, videos are one of the 17 most important ranking factors!

Even if you have absolutely no video-creating experience, there are programs like Renderforest which make it so simple, my grandmother could do it.

So, you now have all the programs you need to create a more engaging website and blog, built around the user in mind.

Of course, that's just the start. When you're ready to step your websites game up to the next level, it's time for UI & UX.
