Today, taking a picture of a place only to 'gram it practically goes hand-in-hand with visiting a place (how else would you remember your trips?). In fact, according to recently released data from Instagram, some of the most popular hashtags of 2017 (#travel, #nature, and #travelphotography) center around our love for capturing the global sights we see.
Of course, some places prove particularly well-suited for photo opps. As the year winds down, the social media–sharing app analyzed the total number of geo-tagged cities for the year. These ten are the most Instagrammed locations around the world.
1. New York, New York
For the second year in a row, the boroughs are the biggest draw for Instagrammers, especially Manhattan and its tourist hubs: Times Square, the second-most 'grammed location in the world, and Central Park, the third. The Brooklyn Bridge also pops up often (it was the eighth-most Instagrammed location of the year) as well as museums like the Met and MOMA (the first and second most 'grammed museums in the world).
