Some awesome Kitchen articles for buyers and sellers

As we all know, kitchens and bathrooms sell houses.  If I had to prioritize one over the other, the obvious choice is to focus on the kitchen.  The kitchen is the heart of the home, and for many it's the room people spend the most time in.

When buyers are looking at new homes, this is one key focal points and buyer will almost dive towards the kitchens.  So, I though I would share a few helpful articles to help you and your sellers optimize their kitchens.

First, if you haven't already noticed, one of the latest trends is the rise of farmhouse sinks.  For years, I just didn't "get" the appeal of kitchen sinks.  But, now I get that part of it is ergonomics and part is style/decor.

I recently came across this awesome kitchen trend article by Karen Holt Highland.  She discusses the current trends for 2017-2018 including style, colors and appliances.  It's such a thorough and complete article that I loved reading.  And, she has some great pictures.

One of the most common questions I'm asked is What is the best type of flooring for the kitchen?  Of course, there's always a debate among the first 2 options (hardwood and tile), so I discuss the pros and the cons for both choices.  I also share a new alternative for my 3rd choice.  And, I go through the top 9 flooring options for kitchens from best to worst.

If you're into farmhouse or rustic kitchens, this article from Anita Clark is a must read:  10 Rustic Kitchen Ideas for Rustic Living.  I really can't believe how much the farmhouse style trend has taken off.  I think a lot of this is due to Pinterest. Good ideas spread like wild fire on there.

If you or you clients have cabinets that looked dated, but they are in good condition, you do have the option to paint them.  It's less expensive and less invasive vs replacing the cabinets.  The challenge is that there is a lot of incorrect and misleading info on the internet, especially when it comes to DIY projects.  So, I wrote this article on How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets the RIGHT way. In this article, I share 2 methods to paint cabinets.  You can either do this yourself or hire a professional painter.

I hope you find these articles helpful if you or your clients are considering giving your kitchen a makeover.  These should help you make more informed decisions to better understand what home buyers and home owners prefer.
