Ball-Striking Tips with Michael Breed

Ball-Striking Drill

All golfers aspire to be great ball-strikers, but it is much easier said than done. There are a number of factors that affect your ball-striking abilities like, posture, weight transfer, and shoulder tilt. Practice certainly helps but there are some tips that can help improve your ball-striking and help you pure your irons before you know it. The best ball-strikers in the world have one thing in common, they make contact with the ball first, then the turf. In this Play Better Golf Segment, world-renowned teaching professional and Titleist staffer, Michael Breed, shows us a drill that can help improve your ball-striking. All you need is a shoelace and a couple of golf tees.

Quick Tips: Michael Breed’s Shoelace Drill

Michael Breed: Improving your ball striking is just one shoelace away. Well, you know what, you’re going to need a couple of tees as well. What we’re going to do is we’re going to put a tee in the ground here and strike a shoelace across those two tees. Then I’m going to put a ball right in front of the shoelace about one club head. My intention here is to come down into that strike miss the shoelace and strike the ball. And when I do that I’ll control the low point of the arc, I’ll strike the ball before I strike the ground, I’ll be consistent with my trajectory my start line, and my apex. And when I do all that, I’m going to be consistent with my iron play and shoot lower scores.
