Beyonce paid tribute to the five police officers killed and seven other injured in Thursday’s Dallas shootings, with a letter she posted on Instagram, late Friday night.
The names of the five police officers who were killed — Brent Thompson, Patrick Zamarripa, Michael Krol, Michael Smith and Lorne Ahrens — are displayed, alternating with a black and white image of the Texas state flag.
“Rest in peace to the officers whose lives were senselessly taken yesterday in Dallas,” Beyonce wrote. “I am praying for a full recovery of the seven others injured.”
“No violence will create peace. Every human life is valuable. We must be the solution,” she added. “Every human being has the right to gather in peaceful protest without suffering more unnecessary violence.”
She concluded the note by writing, “To effect change we must show love in the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.”
Beyonce, a Houston, Texas native, also spoke out against the recent deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by releasing a statement on her website on Thursday.

“We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities,” she wrote. “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us.'”
The singer also led a moment of silence for those who have been killed by police at her Glasgow concert as part of her Formation World Tour, also on Thursday.
