Invitee responses stuck under iOS 8

Upgraded to iOS 8 from 7 this morning. I started getting "invitee responses" which are apparently new notifications in iOS 8. Generally a good feature though I can't seem to control it. Regardless, I'm getting these new notifications when someone accepts or declines meetings, fine. But I have two accepts for a meeting I scheduled prior to the iOS 8 upgrade that won't clear from my "Invitee Responses" in my Calendar inbox. They both are just sitting there with the "OK" button looking like it can be pressed, and when I do nothing happens. Other invite accepts/declines clear when I press "OK" but not these.

How do I clear them? I've restarted the phone, I've double-tapped home and swiped up on Calendar, I've pulled down and refreshed...everything I can think of besides deleting the event (which his recurring and has lots of attendees so I'd rather not).

Ideas?

The only way I found to remove these invitee responses was to go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > open the setting for the Exchange account and then turn off Calendars. You will then be asked whether your Exchange Calendar can be removed from your iPhone. Agree to this and click your Home button - the Calendar app will remove all Exchange calendar entries. Then go back into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > open the setting for the Exchange account and then turn on Calendars. All your old invitee responses should now be removed.

I, too, wish Apple would provide a way to just disable the stupid invitee responses. I HATE having that badge count on my calendar when it's just a bunch of invitee responses, and clearing them is not only annoying, but often problematic when they won't clear. I have a lot of recurring, large meetings that I manage and it drives me crazy to constantly have to clear the responses.

Please, please, please add a way to disable the counts, Apple! You'd be my hero.

Based on the comments that this only relates to recurring events, and clears once the date (or first date) passes, I turned off the automatic date/time setting function, set my date ahead a few years, swiped up to close calendar, and when I went back in everything was cleared. Of course I also had to do the same thing on my iPad and iPad mini in addition to my iPhone.

This is just ridiculous.
