A tripped Salt River Project substation circuit breaker left 1,932 Mesa customers without power during Sunday's record-breaking heat.

The outage started at approximately 5:26 p.m. and affects homes from Country Club Drive to Dobson Road and Baseline Road to Broadway Road, according to SRP's website.

Power was restored by 6:30 p.m. to the 1,900 homes, according to SRP.

Approximately 2,469 are without power in the Northern Arizona town of Cottonwood, according to Arizona Public Service's website.

The exact cause of the Cottonwood outage is under investigation and power was restored by 7:45 p.m. according to APS.

Earlier Sunday, about 2,500 APS customers in Surprise were impacted by a power outage earlier Sunday, but power had been restored to most by late afternoon.

Two unrelated outages occurred Saturday, leaving about 2,500 West Valley SRP customers without power in the evening.

An SRP spokesman said Saturday that a tripped substation breaker was to blame for one of those outages. The exact cause of the other was unknown.
