Houghton Mifflin Harcourt buys Marlborough data analytics firm

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, a Boston-based educational content company with a textbook heritage, said Tuesday that it has acquired Choice Solutions Inc., a 22-employee company based in Marlborough that specializes in data analytics, integration solutions, and professional services for state and district-level education systems.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

"The combination of HMH's trusted and proven educational content with Choice's expertise in the areas of data science, reporting, and security will enable us to provide a truly comprehensive learning solution based on rigorous instruction and scientific analysis," chief executive Linda Zecher of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt said in a statement. "By bridging the gaps between classroom instruction and data analysis at the state and district level, we can facilitate tailored interventions and ultimately deliver better outcomes for students."
