Wanderlei Silva probably could not have scripted it any better.
In Saturday’s main event at UFC on FUEL TV 8, Silva (35-12-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC) returned to Japan, the country where he became an MMA superstar in PRIDE, for the first time since 2006.
And despite being a 2-to-1 underdog, he knocked out Brian Stann (12-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) in the second round to the overwhelming delight of more than 14,000 fans.
Silva and Stann traded huge bombs in the first round, and each fighter dropped the other on multiple occasions. The pace slowed down in the second round. But then Silva landed a right and a left to drop Stann, and he quickly followed him to the ground for four more punches that had the American out cold.
