Batman, Superman, And Wonder Woman Provide First Look At "Batman V Superman"

The Comic-Con crowd went NUTS. Plus: The first look at Wonder Woman!

SAN DIEGO — Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot — aka Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman — and director Zack Snyder appeared on stage at the fan convention Comic-Con on Saturday, July 26 to show off a brief clip from their upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The wordless clip, which was barely a minute long, is set in Gotham City. It's dark, raining, thundering. Batman, outfitted in a metal Batsuit with glowing eyes that is quite reminiscent of Tony Stark's Iron Man suit, pulls back a tarp over the Bat-signal. He lights it up. The camera pans to the sky. And floating there, in the middle of the Bat-signal, is Superman. And he looks pissed, as his eyes glow red. The camera cuts to Batman, looking directly at Superman, stoically. Then the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice logo. Then a meltdown in Hall H, the Con's biggest space.

Snyder said they had been shooting the film the night before, and he ushered Affleck, Cavill, and Gadot on stage for a brief photo op, and then ushered them off again before they could take any questions. But it was enough. After 20th Century Fox declined to bring the new Fantastic Four cast to Comic-Con on Friday, and there was no footage from Terminator: Genesis on Thursday, the crowd was starved for the kind of exclusive and exciting first looks that has become expected of the annual event. And when Snyder replayed the teaser again as they left the stage, the crowd seemed to roar even louder.

Wonder Woman was not in the clip, but Snyder tweeted out the first look of her in the film instead:

Great time at #SDCC this year! #WonderWoman #DCTrinity http://t.co/iPhukjD0F3

The DC trinity is complete.
