CRESTLINE — A Mentone woman who is suspected of embezzling around $200,000 from a Crestline business is being investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Linda Block, 61, allegedly wrote checks from the Carpet Station to herself and her daughter between January 2013 and March 2014. She worked at the business as a bookkeeper, sheriff’s Captain Rick Ells said Monday.

The business owner discovered the theft when he wrote a check this month and it bounced.

Deputies searched Block’s home Wednesday, seizing evidence.

She was interviewed by investigators, but not booked into jail due to medical issues, Ells said.

Detectives plan to present their case to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of felony embezzlement charges.
