FONTANA — Police arrested a Fontana man Sunday after he allegedly bit off part of a woman’s finger during a fight.

Juan Carlos Gomez, 42, was released from jail after posting bail Monday, according to booking records.

Gomez went to a home in the 17000 block of Lacebark Street to confront a resident about a prior dispute, police said. He yelled at several people at the residence and allegedly began beating and choking a 19-year-old man, police said.

When a 48-year-old woman intervened, Gomez bit off the tip of her finger, severing it above the last knuckle.

Gomez was arrested on suspicion of mayhem, criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon.
