Christian Slater on board Nymphomaniac

IN PRODUCTION. Christian Slater has been added to the cast list of Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac" currently shooting in Cologne, Germany.

Christian Slater plays the father of lead character Joe in Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac" which started shooting on 28 August.

"Lars is a complete gentleman," Christian Slater comments in TrustNordisk press release. "It's great to be on a set with someone who has such a loyal and talented team. The majority of his crew are people he has worked with over the past twenty years. They love him and I understand why. It's lovely as an actor to get opportunities a few times in your career to work on a truly special project with a director and leader who really understands his material and is able to convey what he wants so concisely. He is patient and understanding and that makes an actor want to deliver everything he has to the material."

"Nymphomaniac" is the story of a woman's erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac Joe.

On a cold winter's evening the old, charming bachelor Seligman finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe recounts the story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.

Christian Slater joins an already extensive cast list, including Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe and Stellan Skarsgård as Seligman.

"Nymphomaniac" is produced by Louise Vesth for Zentropa in co-production with Zentropa International Köln, Slot Machine and Caviar and with support from, among others, the Danish Film Institute. International sales are handled by TrustNordisk. The film is expected to release in 2013.
