The trial of Ronnie Okello Ameri, a finance manager at Kisiizi Church of Uganda Hospital in Rukungiri District, accused of embezzling shillings 1.2 billion, is set to resume on Monday, February 5, 2024.

The Nakasero-based Anti-Corruption Court Judge Margaret Tibulya, scheduled the trial after the prosecution confirmed their readiness to present witnesses.

According to the prosecution, Ameri allegedly committed the offence between January 2019 and March 2021 while serving as the hospital’s finance manager. He has denied the charges.

Under section 19 of the Act, if found guilty, he faces up to 14 years in prison or a fine not exceeding shillings 6.7 million, or both.

In addition, under section 46 of the same Act, a conviction for embezzlement results in disqualification from holding public office for 10 years.
