His Novice Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

Nathan Stockman controls his own destiny and answers to no one. But when Summer Jenkin erupts into his life, he finds it hard to resist the temptation to bed her. She’s everything he’s not. She’s classy, she’s young, and she’s … virginal.

Dare he be the man responsible for awakening her to the pleasures of lovemaking, or should he walk away before they become emotionally entangled?

Summer doesn’t care that Nathan is older than she is, and it certainly doesn’t stop her from wanting a night of passion in his arms. Offering to be his novice is no guarantee he will teach her everything he knows about love, but she’s ready and more than willing to learn how to please him … both in and out of bed.

I really liked this story, I mean it took me a while to click with the female character as she did come across as a mix between the housekeeper and a bit of a snob but once you got to know her you realise she doesn't know much else as her life is dedicated to taking care of her brothers home. I liked her male character, he seemed like your average Joe, even though he was wealthy in his own right. I can say i was very excited about the forbidden element of best friend's sister/brother best friend vibe but to be fair I didn't really get much of that, I think due to her brother being gone, so it was more like he was just a lodger instead. At first there was tension between the two characters and then just when you think it was all going to explode of the pages, it was like someone suddenly turned the heat down to a simmer and I liked that the female was willing to go after what she was looking for but I think how it suddenly happened the next morning, came across as a little awkward. Their relationship after this was actually better, it came across as romantic and I felt like they were a couple and were going somewhere and then suddenly her brother returns (didn't like him in this scene even if he was hurt and grieving) and then everything changed and I was gutted a little at their conversation, or confrontation, basically like they were trying to out do each other in the care less department, the male in my view was only really bouncing off how she was acting and speaking, since he was prepared to take her away, somewhere safe but she basically gave up on them straight away and again basically became all about her brother (who I might add was down right horrible and she still sided with him and pushed the man away) the scene between this and the end was the female finally realising her feelings and coming to a decision and then deciding to do something about it, but it was a tad sad at how it all became a little heartbreaking as they just no longer spoke or saw each other. I did like that they reconciled and expressed their feelings for one another but again I think I would have liked more of a HEA instead of the HFN we got as their relationship was kind of opened ended, to see where it would go instead of that all in love I was hoping for, but that it just personal preference!

Really enjoyed this age gap romance between Summer and Nathan. Only a short read but would love more stories from this couple.

I received a free copy of this book via Evernight and am voluntarily leaving a review.
