WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A 19-year-old male was in serious condition at New Hanover Regional Medical Center Wednesday night after being shot in the parking lot at Jungle Rapids.

According to an email from Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Linda Thompson, the shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. in the 5300 block of Oleander Avenue. No one else was injured.

"It seems like this is a random situation," said Eric Williams, Drive Park general manager at Jungle Rapids. "We take great pride in making sure that our guests and the city know that this is a safe place to be, and this is very unfortunate. No one is hurt more about this situation than we are. But as I said earlier, we are going to get back to doing what we do and providing the Wilmington area with a great place to come and have a good time. "

One witness told police they saw a male running from the parking lot. There is no other suspect information at this time.
