We are still hearing from our growing community how meaningful our June convening was for the field. More than 125 funders met in New York for an urgent conversation about re-imagining safety with and for girls of color. We are grateful to all of you that could be with us in person and online.
The full morning of the convening was shared on Facebook Live. You can see short video clips and the full broadcast of the event on the convening website. Please bear in mind, these clips capture the courageous and sometimes painful truths about safety. Please take good care while viewing. We also encourage you to consider reaching out to healing practitioners for additional support.
We cannot thank the fierce planning committee enough, for the brilliance and love they put into planning every aspect of the day. We remain grateful for their leadership.

A groundbreaking study by the Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality provides—for the first time—data showing that adults view Black girls as less innocent and more adult-like than their white peers, especially in the age range of 5–14. These results are profound, with far-reaching implications, and reveal a potential contributing factor to the disproportionate rates of punitive treatment in the education and juvenile justice systems for Black girls.
