If you like audiobooks, Audible is definitely worth a try. But its subscription pricing structure is a turn-off for some. Here’s a simple way to get three months of the service for 50% off—as long as you’re still in your free trial period.
Amazon, which owns Audible, likes to do whatever they can to retain customers—including offering deals to those who try to cancel their subscriptions. If you’re within Audible’s free 30-day trial period and still need convincing, redditor Sharplookout found out a way to extend your savings:
Go to the Audible website and log in to your account.
Mouse over your name at the top of the window, then click “Account Details.”
Scroll down to the “Account Settings” section, then click “Cancel my membership.”
Choose the option “It’s too expensive.”
You’ll be offered a chance to switch your membership, which gets you three months of Audible for 50% off, or $7.49. This is a full Gold membership with all the usual perks.
When you accept the deal, you’ll get a message that says “Thank you for staying with us. A 3-month discount has been applied to your Gold membership,” and you’ll get another credit you can use immediately on books. But if you can, wait until you’re near the end of your free 30-day trial because you get billed for the first month as soon as you do this. I tried this myself and it worked like a charm.
