The values of the individual properties are well above the average prices for the areas they are in.

AVERAGE HOUSE PRICES OVERSEAS
Country Average enquiry price
Australia £472,363

For example, the most expensive property for sale in Thailand is £16million ($20.6m) - and yet the average price for that country is closer to £140,000.

Chris Please, head of overseas property at Rightmove, said: 'These stately homes, mansions and villas really do show just how the other half live.

'They're a far cry from the average enquiry prices that we see in many of these countries, but we do get interest in these high-end properties from extremely wealthy investors.'

He added: 'My particular favourite is the Mandalay Mansion in the Great Barrier Reef - just imagine being able to wake up to that view every morning.'
