The renowned Piedmont region in Italy is of course best known for its red wines made from the Nebbiolo grape. Today; however, we are happy to introduce you to a white variety from Piedmont that was almost extinct just 50 years ago.
The 2014 Recit Roero Arneis from Monchiero Carbone begins with an attractive if a bit subdued aroma of apple, pear, peach and honeysuckle. Tasting the wine reveals a soft and smooth mouthfeel with a pleasant bit of creaminess and a subtle complexity that makes it a pleasure to drink. It features similar flavors to the nose but they combine majestically in the mouth. It ends with a hint of a nutty note on the long finish. If you're a fan of Italian wines and especially those from Piedmont, this is definitely one worth seeking out!
