An iconic Birmingham pub is reopening after a £285,000 facelift.

The Gosta Green in Holt Street, Aston is opening its doors again on Monday, July 24, after the substantial refurbishment.

There’s a dramatic new look to the beer garden , with landscaping, cabins, interesting artwork painted on the walls and even a big screen outside.

Inside there’s a new games zone including two shuffleboards plus table tennis and pool tables.

There’s also free fast wi-fi, a printing station and charging points for phone and laptops so it could be an option as a place to work.

A new food and drink menu includes a Greenhouse section, offering dishes like lime and chilli chicken salad and vegetable penang.

The drinks menu includes the introduction of the Giant Tin Can sharing cocktails and a larger craft beer range.

The pub was originally called the Pot of Beer and during the 1980s and early 90s it was a renowned venue for music, with bands like Blur and Pop Will Eat Itself playing there.

After a short spell as the Faculty and Firkin it was renamed the Gosta Green.
