 Insta Stories Pon de Replay

Instagram announced a new feature that gives users the choice to share a replay of their live video to IG Stories. Previously, live videos disappeared at the end of the broadcast unless you saved them, then you’d have to repost to your profile. With the new update, users now have the option to share the video via IG Stories or save/discard it as before. What does this mean for marketers? Since videos can stay up longer, this may attract larger audiences to your content. It gives your followers enough time to watch your videos and allows them to catch up on anything they missed — keeping more people in the know.

Launching KFC’s Genius Social Strategy in 3, 2, 1…

KFC’s latest social media marketing tactic is out of this world, literally. In an effort to promote its new Zinger chicken sandwich, KFC plans to launch it into space. No, really. The fast-food chain will send a sandwich on a 4-day mission in space and will live-stream the big event on Facebook. Leading up to the launch, KFC has not only decked out its social platforms with everything space, but it also tweeted a series of conversational ads. In order to encourage customer participation in the rad space mission, KFC tempted users with the reward of having their Tweet featured on the rocket ship.
 
This unique (and certainly attention-grabbing) approach to marketing a sandwich is yet another reminder to always think outside the box (or the ozone layer). That’s one small step for KFC, one giant leap for social marketing.
