The Wine 2.11 development release is now available for download, coming two weeks after the Wine 2.10 update to add more goodies to the open-source compatibility layer for running Windows apps and games on Unix-like OSes.

Prominent features of the Wine 2.11 release include OpenGL support in the Android driver, support for security labels, implementation of relay debugging on ARM64 (AArch64) hardware, extra dictionary support in WebServices, as well as the addition of a new registry file parser in the RegEdit utility.

Wine 2.11 appears to be the smallest update released until now for the open source software, as it only contains a total of 16 changes fixing flickery textures in midrange background Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, startup issues with IMSSA EuroDEEM (VB6 app), as well as a 4K bug on displays with 3840x2160 resolution.

Also fixed in the Wine 2.11 update is an issue that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players reported with weapons and items that appear distorted or are invisible when held by the player, and error with the Sound Recorder utility when attempting to seek MP3 audio streams to the end.

Adobe Premiere and Söldner: Secret Wars improvements

In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Wine 2.11 development release improves support for running the Adobe Premiere industry-leading non-linear video editing application on GNU/Linux platforms, and fixes startup issues with the VistA GuiMail app and the Retro Achievements Snes9x emulator.

Small improvements were also brought to the Söldner: Secret Wars, WarBR (WarS 5.5 p4) and Scrabble (Infogrames) games, as well as the PresentMon tool for collection and processing of ETW events and the winhttp component. Wine 2.11 is now available for download as a source tarball from our website.
