If you have a kid, you have no doubt been dragged to your local toy store for a Fidget Spinner. These spinning, mesmerizing,  cartoons balancing tops are the latest craze among kids, but some question whether or not they are too much of a distraction.  Some say they are effective in improving concentration and focus in students with ADHD, while others just buy the toy for their kids because they don't want them to be the only ones without them.

As the Washington Post reported in May, they are so popular that some teachers have banned them in the classroom. It's a fine line for parents and students to walk. If they are in fact helpful for some kids, how do you moderate usage in a classroom? It is interesting that machines (iPhones, iPads, etc.) have been replaced with a toy from our grandparent's childhood (tops), but that seems to be the case. Cartoon by Ed Hall.
