You wait all day... then 3 turn up at once...

We have all experienced this; you've been stood at the bus stop for 10 minutes waiting for your bus to turn up, and then 3 arrive at the same time. Very annoying!

Running your own business can be like this at times. You wait for customers to contact you but nothing happens, then suddenly you get an influx of enquiries that come in at the same time. This often happens with businesses who products or services are seasonal.

This made me wonder; "How can you create a steady flow of clients all year long?".

The advice I got from other business owners and articles that I have read all gave different suggestions, but, the one common theme that ran through them all, was, diversification.

If you want your business to survive the quieter periods, you have to be prepared to diversify (change) your product / service, and, the way you market these as well.

This can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be . It could be as simple as adding a new product line that is aimed at a different clientele or adding value to an existing product or service.

Finally, don't be afraid to try different ways to attract new customers. Word of mouth recommendation is the best form of client attraction, and social media comes in a close second. When people like your business they will talk about it on social media. Harness this by asking your clients to recommend your business to their followers, or, post a praising review on your Facebook page.

Such a simple thing can make a big difference to your business.
