watched, wtf. replay. wtf. mind. blown...btw some pinkbike experts should talk Semenuk into the benefits of the current trend of upsizing his bike.. that kid looks like on a BMX, there is no way he can be stable. smooth and centered on the bike... oh wait..
from now on, I'm gonna use Brandons Raw 100 instead of numbers. "No Greg Minaar won in Lenzerheide One week prior to the Brendon Semenuk Raw 100 V3, not V2"
This guy is literally an "Artist." His skillsets are so honed, that It's no longer just riding, it's methodical compositions, starting from the plot of land, flow, & features to compliment his inventive tricks; and his damn flawless execution! Keep pushing the sport!
@VTwintips: he is good but I think that he is loosing his bag of tricks in last almost half of the video he was doing whips and tables he should have put more tricks into it!!!
@scottsecco: two of my favorite movies! in some cases even the third movie of a series is the best imo like die hard III and indiana jones and the last crusade
@scottsecco I'm with @Milko3D on this Aliens is a fun action flick, no hate, but really not comparable (Alien is a horror/cinematography masterpiece; AlienS is a fun hollywood blow-em-up...)
This Rawnesss on the other hand is mind blowing progression.
Whenever one of these comes out i just burst out laughing half way through at how absurdly good his bike handling skills are. No one else could have made this video.
@scott-townes: no, i'm comparing the fact both Candide and Brandon release unfrequently videos, but when they do, it just reminds everybody how good they are. There is no equivalent of Candide Thovex in mtb, and there is no equivalent of Brandon Semenuk in ski.
If Brandon held multiple massively progressive events, did multiple tricks that were unmatched for years, a decade and some never done since, won multiple disciplines for many years at the highest level, came back from an injury that would easily kill the career of most, and then started to release random edits showing he still has the skill in the park which he rarely goes into, on top of having some of the most impressive big mountain riding compared to current riders then... yeah then you can consider comparing Candide to Brandon.
would love to see semenuk race a national or a crankwork canadian open dh.
he's so damn good, i'm sure he would suprise alot of peeps with a good result.
@Neechy: Oh Semenuk had an almost career-ending injury? What massive events did he hold with creative and ground-breaking features? What tricks has he done that haven't been replicated for years or yet to be done?
@scott-townes: Can you read or are you one of these people that pretend to read and reply something random because he wants to be right? You have to be fairly stupid to compare the career and achievements of someone that is 35 with that of someone that is 26.
All i see is a guy that is awkward on a bike, far from stylish with average ability who's best days are long behind him. Oh, hang on, that's my reflection on the screen.
Slopestyle and speed&style shouldn't be only judged on tricks. This is a 98+ run with no 720 or twister or "triple whatever to one hand to xup to almost fail". And with a proper helmet.
@noisette: i'm not comparing is run to any contest run, just saying tricks aren't everything. Maybe a slopestyle spot with multiple lines could be more interesting, as WC races are with multiple lines, could give more points to creativity.
@fracasnoxteam: I see what you mean, and i agree, what threw me off is that you gave 98+ points for it! for what? to get points, you need to be scored; to get scored, you need to be judged; to be judged, you need to participate in a competition - and this is not a competition run. Vids are about showcasing your fav moves, as close to perfection as they can be, no matter how many takes it takes (:P), competitions are about the what you can do then and there. Just the way I see it. Still a cool video, not saying it isn't.
I think Sem is a once in a generation kind of rider. Ive never seen and dont think we will see another rider with his level of amplitude and flow. Time will tell as its such a young sport but i think in 50 years time he will be seen as one of the greats.
He rides like we all wish we could ride.
He is to bikes wot jimi Hendrix was to the guitar. The instrument existed before them but they took what could be done with it and pushed it to a whole new level
The sound editing in this video is on an other level, you hear the bike as if it's whispering in your ear Props to all of them, insane Rider and the Revel-crew has some mad filming and editing skills!
@mariyo: After the watching it 5 or so times just to wrap my head around the actual riding, I decided to pop in the second earbud in to hear more of that glorious tire roar. Something felt very wrong until I realized I had the left and right mixed up. Switched the earbuds and my brain melted for a second time... Then I had to watch it 3 more times...
Give it a week and everyone else will be doing the same tricks... The man is an innovator and trend setter that every other slope rider copies and wishes to be.
I've long ben thinkin that slopestyle and speed and style has lost it self to mindless trick math combo craze. Great to see BS amping up the Steeze and toning down all the fidgety trick stuff. Btw.. Temple Of Doom is by far the greatest of the Indiana Jones movies. Escaping airplanes by rubber boat, gory ripping out hearts.. all legendary stuff.
Bmx. That's where. Watch some bmx racer edits on IG and you'll see that stuff all over. I was doing Manual to bonk to manual stuff on bmx rhythm sections 15 years ago.
Not taking anything away from his creativity, cause he's one of the most creative riders, but all that stuff comes from bmx riding.
The crew of guys I ride with all come from a bmx background. Anyone can develop cardio but bike control isn't so easy or just looking at a trail in a certain way.
@nyhc00: yep. Whenever I go to the bike park I just watch people and think, if they even spent a summer riding a bmx bike, instead of a bike with 8" of travel to cover up all their mistakes, they would all quit, or become way better riders.
Never been one to watch the Crankworx/XGames freestyle type of riding. I know who the players are but just rather watch DH and BMX. I can't get enough of this video segment. First time I saw the side of the jump scrub thing my jaw hit the floor. Such creativity all around. I need to mop up my office chair after this one.
I remember when I went to Whistler BP, I was on a chairlift. It was my wife and I and a dad and his kid, probably 8-9-10. As we were sharing the lift for the next few minutes, I was sitting middle right next to the kid while the dad and my wife were on the outside.
On our way up, I mentioned how cool the dad was for taking his son to Whistler and letting him ride. I also introduced myself and asked his name, only asking him to remember me when he became big and famous like BC native Semenuk. I asked him if he liked Brandon and he lit up like a Roman candle as he was a BC native as well.
"Because your dad is so cool and he takes you to Whistler BP, you are going to become world famous, and all I ask is that you remember little old me when you become a world famous rider like Brandon. I can look back and say that on this day, I shared a chair with you before you became famous!!"
I can't remember his name but the feeling I had after we got off the lift made me smile.
I wish there were more features in slopestyle competitions for riders to showcase this kind of style. With nothing but massive jumps, there's only room on the podium for people throwing the most massive tricks.
i'm sure this has probably been answered somewhere, but i'd love to know how the mic the bike sounds. i assume there must be one on him or the bike. the riding is so damn good, but the audio is my favorite part!
there's a bit of room for clean up with how dirty hes riding these days damn that's some "DIIIRRRTY" riding!!!...hope to see him do at least 2 comps this season rampage and whistler redbull joyride
Semenuk - Love seeing the guy reach his potential and progress the sport, not just be another guy who's in it for the "scene" and to party, like most of his contemporaries....
I spent the whole video saying to myself "and that's the part where I would die...no wait, that part...oh there too..." Also I want another Ticket now.
It's attainable. All you have to do is start riding bikes when you are very young and do it all day every day until you are 26 pushing yourself to do something nobody has ever done before on every one of those sessions with complete focus.
Easy.
I think I finally know what happened to all our keyboard warriors skills....this guy dream robbed us all at birth! Jesus he makes this look like a warm up lap!
@poulail22: That was actually really funny when he fell off that platform. The camera man and announcers didn't see it happen. Then it was a couple of awkward seconds of everyone not sure where he went.
guy makes good edits but hes not much of a contest rider anymore, lets the pressure take over i guess, and i kinda lost interest in him over it. at least keep trying/take a different mental approach, dont just stop doing contests and only making edits where u get as many takes as you want, i say the best is the guy who can throw it down run after run in a contest, and right now thats not semenuk. even the fact that he only wants to do joyride this year after his piss poor performance last year.
I get your statement, its alot easier to make this look so damn cool when you have time to play around
but, on the flip side, people likes these "blockbuster" edits, all slick and polished, its a different beast to competitions and should not be called slop style as some sites call it, its a showpiec,e and a good one at that, so its not a problem that he is not in comps no more, this is a preference he has, to make slick edits, if i was being a bitch I could say its arrogance as a fail in slopestyle make you look weak, or bad, this can only make you look a god ...
but, either way, different beast to comps, his chosen route, just ignore comps now, this is slick-ass-showing-off, and its good feast for the eyes
What exactly does a guy like him have left to prove by doing contests? He's won everything multiple times. He won the FMB world tour 3x, joyride 4x, rampage 2x, etc. Who cares if he doesn't want to do contests anymore and focuses more on making videos. Its two different animals. He's no less of a badass just because he doesn't want to do contests. When was the last time Travis Rice entered a snowboard contest? Its been like 10 years, but is there anyone on the planet who doesn't consider him to be one of, if not the best snowboarder in the world?
@whitebullit : Don't worry about what you've lost- concentrate on what we've all gained... I can't see the whip to tail whip or the table to late table going down so well in a slopestyle run... These videos have enabled Semenuk to express himself in a whole new way. Working with Rupert Walker means it's all captured by a friend who shares the desire to break the mould. I personally think the Revel Co vids are the best in the game right now.

Thank you for proving my point that you don't have a clue about why Candide is a legend in skiing.
but whatever

lets hope he wont kill himself then
Props to all of them, insane Rider and the Revel-crew has some mad filming and editing skills!
Surely?
