How To Tame Vacation Skin

It happens to me every single season: I’m really looking forward to a vacation, and when I finally get to the destination, my skin starts acting crazy. I get anything and everything from acne to dry patches and overall dullness… This time around, I decided to figure out how to tame vacation skin ahead of time, so I don’t experience such issues. I was not necessarily looking for DIY vacation skincare tips, but rather for a skincare routine that will help to deeply moisturize my skin (because I will be in the water all the time) and help it to retain hydration throughout the day.

A few weeks before our vacation, one of my most favorite skincare brands that I’ve been blogging about from the beginning of this blog, Clarins, reached out to me offering to test their newest skincare launches, a facial serum, and a moisturizer and I immediately agreed on doing so. You know my feelings about their night creams and serums (aka I’m totally obsessed!) and I had a good feeling about those ultra-hydrating products. Perhaps, they can help me to solve my vacation skin troubles?

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum

As expected, I have not been disappointed. Clarins Hydra-Eseentiel Bi-Phase Serum was a perfect match for my normal to dry skin that has a tendency for oiliness in the T-zone. The serum delivered everything my skin was lacking after a dehydrating flight: it smoothed out and added life to my dull looking skin. It also helped my makeup to apply more evenly which was essential considering how many holidays we celebrate during this trip. Finally, I felt that it was helping my skin overnight too by making my heavy-duty nighttime moisturizer more effective.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream

When it comes to the Silky Cream from the Clarins’ Hydra-Essentiel line, it was one of the most comfortable creams to wear. You know me: I’m very picky when it comes to sticky products. Even if the cream does miracles to my skin but my hair is getting glued to this product, I just can’t stand it. Keeping that little weirdness of mine, you’ll understand why I loved Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream so much—it just deeply hydrates without an unnecessary sticky finish.

The consistency of this cream reminds me of whipped body butter, but much more lightweight and soft. If you love night creams by Clarins, you’ll be addicted to this new product launch as I could compare this cream effectiveness to those nighttime products. It deeply hydrates skin and helps to avoid any dry patches throughout the day. Maybe it’s related to the fact that I’m on vacation, but my skin really looks more radiant now!  Since I didn’t change anything else in my skincare routine except those two products, so it must be the power of the Leaf of Life which is a major ingredient in both products!

Combined together, Hydra-Essentiel serum and cream worked the exact way I expected: from being a “vacation skin girl” they transformed me into a “great skin kind of girl” who doesn’t need to worry about over-drying her skin while traveling. In fact, thanks to these new Clarins products I experience the best skin moment in years—which is especially inspiring around my 31st Birthday.

Looking back, I have to say that my skin now in the 30s might look better than it ever was in my 20s and I just can’t stop feeling super happy about it!

The Verdict: It’s definitely a new hot product launch and I highly recommend testing these creams out!

Price Point: Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream for normal to dry skin ($48; available at Sephora) and Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum for normal to dry skin ($59; available at Sephora).

Traveling can really damage our skin but it’s not really a problem when you have products such as these! I think it’s important that you know which products work well with your skin so you can be prepared when you’re going on vacation.

I have the same problems when I’m traveling. I assumed it was the unhealthy eating and the stress of travel that made my skin go crazy. It could just be the change in climate though.
