Anyone hoping for a sequel to Step Brothers may be in luck, as Will Ferrell has teased the possibility of doing another movie.

The actor appeared on Watch What Happens Live and was asked by a caller about potential sequels to some of his movies.

Despite denying that films such as Old School would be revisited, he did add: "We talked a little bit about Step Brothers. So who knows? But, at the same time, you like to create new things."

The star previously said that he was "resisting the temptation" to do a sequel to the 2008 cult movie, adding: "It's just tough because the things everyone wants you to do sequels of are special because there's not a sequel of it".

However, anyone hoping for an Elf sequel will once again be disappointed, the actor joking: "I've got great news for you... no."

The star recently teased the possibility of a third Anchorman movie, saying: "Never say never. That's what's really fun about those characters – it could be 10 years from now and we can still play those guys and just be older… and even dumber. So that's the beauty of that."

Ferrell may be hoping to revisit familiar ground, especially after his latest film The House has opened to disappointing box office returns.

The movie opened to $9 million in the US over the weekend, on a budget of $40 million, making it his most disappointing debut for quite a long time.
