The Crying Trump Sticker

My name is Brenton Barnes and I'm an illustrator residing on the North Shore with a desire to a print a vinyl sticker with a point.

It all began a few weeks ago, when I was developing ideas for an Illustration Friday theme, "Resist" and noticed that the President of The United States was once again complaining about the way he was being treated.

Shortly after hearing about this and noting similar occurences, the gears began turning  as ideas spilled from my mind into my sketchbook before settling on the perfect image: A Disembodied Trump Head Sobbing While Wearing His Red Hat With The Phrase: "Please Be Kind, I'm A Snowflake" On It.

The illustration took a week to produce and since publishing it online, it has had a great response and I would like to explore the possibility of making something more out of it: a large vinyl sticker.

As an artist, I believe that art can provide a great deal to the public in times of strife. Whether it can provoke thought, provide criticism, bring out laughter or become something else entirely.

I want to provide people with an image that they can use to resist an unsavory influence while calling him out on what he is, on whatever they want to.

And hopefully make them and others laugh too.

Why Are You Crowdfunding This?

In the past, I've been able to invest my own money to pay for the production costs of stickers but recent events in my life are preventing me from doing so.

I'd also like to give my audience a chance to get involved with my work (and help to get a better understanding of what they'd want out of me,) and crowdfunding can definitely help with that.

So How Much Do I Need?

At $50.00, I'll be able to print a limited run of 100 vinyl stickers (which will be BIGLY at 5 x 6 inches) from a local printing shop on the North Shore, that's had my repeat business for their quality reproductions of my work.

I'm keeping the run small to focus on selling the sticker at art fairs and through online storefronts. However, if we go over our goal that will allow for more stickers to be produced and possibly open up more opportunities for distribution.

But I'm not about profitting from this. Any sale, whether its physical or online, will see a portion of it's proceeds go to the ACLU to aid in their fight to protect our rights as US Citizens. By supporting the production, you will ultimately help a good cause down the line.

I'm going to give this campaign a two-week life span to reach the initial goal.

And What Are You Going To Do For Me?

Good question! I believe that those who support this should get something back, so why not recieve the very stickers that they're helping to produce via backer rewards?
