Ouai Rose Hair & Body Oil

I’m having to pay a bit more attention to my hair at the moment – a combination of humidity and dry ends – well, let’s just say MASSIVE FRIZZBALL. I think I might have to get another Keratin treatment if things continue to be so uncontrollably voluminous. But, it does mean that where a few months ago, I might have ignored new hair products, I’m eyeing them up with a new interest. Ouai is in my sight-line anyway: I was impressed with the shampoo and conditioner plus I’m having a Huda fan moment and Jen Atkins (founder of Ouai) and Huda are best buddies because they went to uni together, I believe. So, that put Ouai back in the spotlight. Their newest product is the Rose Hair & Body Oil, and what a delicious oil it is too – more of a serum oil than an oily oil but as happy on hair as it is on skin. It’s launching into Selfridges exclusively next week for £26.

Scent wise, it’s very delicate – you won’t smell overpoweringly of rose so it shouldn’t interfere with any fragrance, and it’s a clean rose. That’s what everyone wants I guess, clean smelling hair. It’s so new I haven’t had it long enough to say that it’s giving great benefits, but if you like a hair oil, this has left my hair feeling softer and therefore more conditioned, but without weight. It’s silicone free and a blend of Absinthium oil, rose hip oil and shea oil.

While I’m on the subject of Ouai, far outselling any other product is the Dry Shampoo. It works differently to other dry shampoos in that it comes out like a mousse that you then work into the roots (take a bit of time to massage it though properly) to allow it to absorb oils. There is no residue – my son is my tester for this as he’s had a couple of club nights and sure enough, it did bring his hair back to life and maybe more importantly scented it with a clean, just washed aroma. I’m seeing exactly why this is hailed as a game-changer and why it is selling in such quantities. Basically, an upgrade on any existing dry shampoo and a godsend on those can’t be bothered mornings.
