Thanks for taking the time to visit Madison’s JustGiving page.
In two weeks’ time, on the 24th June, Madison, 7, will have her hair cut to raise awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for Action Duchenne.
After talking to me, my long-haired daredevil has asked to get her beautiful hair cut short in order to raise awareness and funds for her friend Dexter, 5, who has DMD, a muscle-wasting condition, affecting around 2,400 boys in the UK.
Madison and I set up this just giving page with a target of raising £100. Having reached that, with still a week ahead, we are extremely positive and proactive in achieving more. Thank you to everyone for their generosity.
To top it off, Madison is also donating her luscious locks to http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/donate-hair, a charity which creates wigs for young cancer sufferers.
Madison will have at least 25cm of hair cut off, during a special event in Cambridge. She plans other fundraisers soon including a sponsored cycle.
Sadly, few people living with DMD will get to see their 30th birthday. Currently there are no treatments or cure for the disease although with more funding and research, one day this could become possible.
