5. Secure place for shoes, clothes, and items

Some homeowners are accustomed to hanging their coats, hats, shoes, umbrellas and other objects in the hallway before entering the house. To avoid overcrowding, provide a large closet, which has hooks in the middle for hanging clothes and lower shelves for shoes.

Detached hangers are the most necessary piece of furniture when decorating entrance hall because you can avoid drilling trough the walls. If you have less space in your entrance hall, choose hangers attached to the wall.

6. Add plate, tray or bowls

Another way to avoid the accumulation and create more space for small items is to add a plate or bowl into which you can put your keys and other content from your pockets. Besides small containers for storing small items, you can also add other types of boxes that may favor the bigger items.

7. Be minimalist-minded

You have to stick to the basics, especially in the case if you have a small hallway. Do not add too much furniture instead, and you can decorate the walls with pictures or mirrors and add a few pieces of lighting on the ceiling. If your hallway is spacious enough feel free to add furniture, or still leave a minimalist space because entrance hall is only a passage and you do not want to block the way or make it difficult for orientation.

Floors in the entrance hall should be carefully considered and harmonized with the rest of the floors in your home. Tiles, wood or laminate are suitable and easy to maintain. Or maybe some rugs if you prefer.
