Knitted blankets for the less fortunate
The project kicked off at the beginning of May and will be completed on Mandela Day 18 July 2017.
The ANC women league of Mohlakeng decided to start an initiative to assist the less fortunate people of the community. They embarked on a knitting and crocheting project to keep the less fortunate warm this winter.
The project kicked off at the beginning of May and will be completed on Mandela Day 18 July, when all the knitted blankets will be donated.
The group of Mohlakeng women come together on Tuesdays to knit and crochet squares that will be pieced together to make complete blankets.
“The members that are currently involved have become very close friends,” said Mpho Mahuma.
Councillor for Ward 40 in Extension 7, Khuziwe Tsotetsi, told the Herald that they want to assist especially the elderly who have no family. She also added that they need community members to help them knit, crochet and donate wool.
Anyone who would like to make a donation or get involved in the project can contact Khuziwe on 061 716 4669.
