The Most Gasp/Hurl-Inducing Flights of the 2017 Paris Air Show

From the F-35 fighter jet proving its moves to a Boeing 737 takeoff that would put you off flying for life.

If there's any glamor left to be found in aviation, you'll find it in City of Light during the biennial Paris Air Show.

For one week, industry bigwigs and #avgeeks alike descend on Le Bourget, the airport just north of the city (and the place Charles Lindbergh landed after his famous transatlantic) to see just where flying is headed next.

Don't call it a trade show. Paris is where airlines sign billion-dollar deals and dignitaries pontificate about partnerships. It’s where celebrities shop for jets and startups promise yet another flying car. And it's where grown adults completely lose their minds over rockets and helicopters.

But the biggest attraction for hundreds of thousands of aviation buffs is the show overhead. This year, they enjoyed a gasp-inducing display by Lockheed’s F-35 fighter jet, which made its debut air show appearance. They ooh and ahhed at the giant Airbus A380, Boeing’s 737MAX, and the new Embraer E195-E2 performing takeoffs so steep and turns so tight they'd make you hurl. And they marveled at the Patrouille de France, the gallic take on the Blue Angels.

If you couldn’t make it to Paris and can't wait for 2019, we've got you covered: You can watch all the highlights of this year's show in the video above.
