It was earlier a part of the Karimnagar district in the state of Telangana.

Sri Raja Rajeshwara Kshetram is present on the banks of Gudi Cheruvu (Temple Tank).

The main sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha) comprises of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy in Neela Lohitha Siva Lingam form along with Goddess Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi idol on the right side and Sri Laxmi Sahitha Siddi Vinayaka idol on the left side.

Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy here in Vemulawada Temple has a local name of Rajanna.

Telangana government recently launched online booking for sevas and accommodation available through their T-app Folio Android application.

Pilgrims who visit the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in the temple town of Vemulawada can now book various sevas (Puja rituals) and accommodation facilities online with a click on their mobile phone at least a week in advance


You can directly make online payments through this new App via Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/ UPI or T-wallet. After the booking is confirmed, a receipt would be sent to your registered E-mail ID. You have to take a print-out of the receipt and produce at the Temple’s reception counter.

Previously, the Devasthanam had introduced online bookings through "MeeSeva", which received a mixed response from the pilgrims.
