Fiona the hippo graces playing cards

Have you found yourself wishing you could play with Fiona, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens' popular baby hippo? Well, now you can -- sort of.

The U.S. Playing Card Co., based in Erlanger, is releasing card decks featuring Fiona. They've been sold in the zoo's gift shop for a couple of weeks but will be available at Kroger stores in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton starting Wednesday. All cards feature a different image of Fiona, and some include members of her care team.

Decks cost $5.99 each, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the zoo for Fiona's care.

“Like many others, we were captivated by Fiona’s story and being neighbors of the zoo, we wanted to help,” Carol Rouillard, director of brand development at The U.S. Playing Card Company, said in a news release. “The images on the Fiona deck allow people to revisit some of the key moments of her journey. We hope the public will jump on this opportunity to get a fun, sharable memento and help us raise a lot of money for Fiona’s care.”
