Description
Sound recording of President John F. Kennedy’s address at the anniversary convocation of the National Academy of Sciences held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. In his speech President Kennedy characterizes the National Academy of Sciences as the principal link between the scientific community and public policy, noting how scientific research has influenced governmental decisions concerning defense, energy, foreign aid, and communications. The President urges the scientific community to lend their expertise to the development and conservation of natural resources in particular. He also explains that the scientific community requires support from the government, private organizations, and individual citizens.
