If there’s one thing I’ve learned this week is that Eggo waffles are alot like a little black dress. It’s one of those things you can dress up or down and flavor it to your taste. I’ve always thought of waffles as a breakfast food that’s served up best with sausage links and syrup – but that’s just me. This week I learned that waffles aren’t just for breakfast – you can enjoy them as a treat in so many creative ways! Delicious News! Eggo waffles now have no artificial flavors and colors from natural sources.
Last week I drove down to my nearby Walmart to discover the Eggo truck that’s making it’s way across the nation. Since it began its path here in DFW, I was one of the first to enjoy what the Eggo truck is all about. Find out if the Eggo truck is making a stop near you by visiting here!
It was a big bright yellow food truck that sat in the Walmart parking lot and I couldn’t resist stepping right up to see what was on the menu. Everything was to be constructed on top of an Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle waffle with the various toppings available. Are you ready?? Decadent delights from M&M’S® Minis Milk Chocolate Candies, Breyer’s® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, Jif® Peanut Butter, Smucker’s® Hot Fudge Spoonable Ice Cream Topping, Reddi-wip® Original Dairy Whipped Topping, Hungry Jack® Original Syrup, Banquet® Brown’N Serve™ Original Sausage Links and Jif® Creamy Peanut Butter. For all those who couldn’t decide, they had a fun little wheel you could spin to help you along!
I was in the mood for something simple and chocolatey so I opted for the decadent which was made up of an Eggo® Homestyle waffle topped with Breyer’s® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, Smucker’s® Hot Fudge Spoonable Ice Cream Topping and Reddi-wip® Original Dairy Whipped Topping.
So after enjoying that little bit of heaven, I went inside to do a few needed groceries and maybe a few extras for my own Waffle bar. I made my first stop in the frozen breakfaast section and picked up my Eggo® Homestyle waffles and the Banquet® Brown’N Serve™ Original Sausage Links weren’t too far away.
Next I looked for some toppings like the Reddi-wip® Original Dairy Whipped Topping and the Hungry Jack® Original Syrup.
So after I gathered a little bit of everything for toppings, I brought it all home to construct my own delicious eggo creation and make my own fun little eggo bar. It’s such a different way to enjoy waffles and breathes some new life into an otherwise ‘regular’ breakfast dish.
I made small dishes of all our family’s favorite toppings of cut strawberries and blueberries and prepared my blank canvas waffle by toasting it lightly.
Ulitmately I decded to leave the ice cream for another time. I made my breakfast waffle with 2 homestyle eggo waffles, Reddi-Wip topped with sausage and mini m&m’s. Just for some extra sweetness, I added a little bit of hungry jack syrup!
