Acupuncture – we’ve heard of it mainly as a way to relax, but the ancient method also can be used to eliminate allergies. The only catch is you’ll get poked a few times.

During acupuncture, needles are inserted and heat or electrical stimulation is applied at precise points.  A study published in the 2013 Annals of Internal Medicine showed after two months of treatment, researchers found 71% of patients who received acupuncture for allergies reported improvement in their symptoms and less use of medicine. The study’s outcome showed scientists acupuncture is effective with seasonal allergies. The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture agrees saying acupuncture is a great way to minimize seasonal needs for medication.    It’s not a quick fix though, you’ll need multiple sessions of acupuncture to feel a lasting difference.

Although it may be a little scary if you’re afraid of needles, patients generally don’t experience too much pain, and there aren’t any side effects after you’re done.
