Strong and Stable

People sometimes say that one should never talk about Sex, Drugs, Death or Politics on Linkedin, but I'm about to break several of those rules .... I am sick to death of politics, referenda, elections and the fact that "the news" is now mostly politics. Yes, sick to death !!

This might come as a surprise to anyone that knows me well. But it's true. I went to a meeting with The Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell the other day. He informed me that some people in the UK even think that Donald Trump's election was a UK event due to the overwhelming press coverage of politics since June 24 2016 !! Every time an election is called, approximately 6 months of business is lost due to disruption and politics are now a regular and persistent feature the UK landscape. Unfortunately The General Election and Brexit are therefore strategic business issue whether we wish them to go away or not. Voter apathy and weariness with politics is at an all time high across the spectrum. The popular press report that we are on course for a Conservative landslide victory, due to voter apathy, the lack of an effective opposition and the belief amongst many people that they cannot affect the outcome, but ...

It doesn't have to be like that ....

I have recently put my business on hold for the next 6 weeks to concentrate on reforming our democracy in the UK. Conversations with Leavers and Remainers alike point to extreme disaffection with the way we have been lied to. Our referendum seemed to be a call for reform of the EU and our political system in Westminster (See Should I Stay Or Should I Go) amidst other issues such as Immigration. We chose to leave the EU in order to reform it but this gives us no influence in the matter. Whilst I don't have a problem with Conservatism and Socialism as ideologies, I consider that our Brexit vote and the media that caused it have put democracy out of balance. This must be reformed for future generations and for the economic strength and stability of the DisUnited Kingdom, so I decided to do something about it ...

Reforming Democracy

Please support and share our campaign to Unite the UK whilst restoring a better balance to our democracy via our Go Fund Me project. We plan a UK tour over the next four weeks using a reformed BBC "Question Time" format to re-ignite tired Remainers and soft Leavers and bring the people together in ways that politicians only dream of.

Strong and Stable Leadership?

As an established author on leadership I'd also like to dare to take issue with Theresa May's self-claimed competence as a "strong and stable leader". Admittedly the Labour opposition is no contest in a world that judges leadership skill rather more like an X-Factor contestant than on matters of substance. Theresa May's approach is inconsistent with any credible thought leadership about modern leadership. Increasingly she looks "weak and unstable", yet this is not a media friendly catchphrase. Yet in the wake of no opposition, any enquiry about her ability to lead the country is at best muted or silenced by the overwhelming power of our media. So strong is Theresa May's grip on power in the current leadership vacuum that Conservative spin doctors have advised that the Theresa May brand is stronger than the Conservative party brand. This has been translated into her name appearing on local candidates' publicity materials in some areas and that the royal blue party colours be diluted to light blue, in an attempt to delude people into thinking that they are not voting Conservative.

Re-engaging People with Politics

There is no such thing as Soft Brexit, there is only Hardcore Brexit or No Brexit and it is time to wake up the UK to this matter. I have been branded as a saboteur and punched in the face. This only confirms the fact that we need to reform our democracy in the UK. To this end I have also taken the role of speaker and musical director for a Vigil opposite No 10 Downing Street to highlight the need for a United Kingdom in Europe. I also managed to sneak in a 1:1 dialogue with Bob Geldof about the Vigil last week, asking him if he would like to perform "I don't like Brexit" with us ... starts at 12 minutes 20 seconds

Here is our showreel video. We have been covered on BBC TV / Radio, The Daily Mail / Express, The Guardian, ARD German TV, Breitbart and many others. Please share the project and this article if you feel we need to be a better Britain in a united Europe.
