The Hyundai Veloster is a stylish vehicle that offers a potent mix of style and performance. If you're a proud owner, you'll want to do everything in your power to keep it performing perfectly while you're taking it around the St. Charles, St. Louis, O'Fallon, and Saint Peters area. What happens, though, when dashboard symbols appear while you're out on the road?

At St. Charles Hyundai, we're here to help our drivers by showing them the Hyundai Veloster dashboard symbols. We'll explain the difference between indicator lights and warning lights. We'll even show you what the symbols mean and what you should do if they happen to appear.

Differentiating Indicator Lights & Warning Lights

It's very important to know the difference between indicator lights and warning lights. Indicator lights aren't anything to worry about. If you or the vehicle activates a system or component, these blue/green/yellow lights will appear simply to remind you of the system that's currently activated.

Warning lights are something different. They're usually red or orange, and they indicate a malfunction or a failing component. When you see these symbols, you should take preventative measures right away so you can avoid further damage to your vehicle.

Hyundai Veloster Indicator Lights

  • High Beam Indicator. If you've activated your high beams, this light will appear and remain until you've turned your high beams off.
  • Cruise Indicator. This light indicates that you've activated your cruise control system.
  • Cruise SET Indicator. After you've activated your cruise control, you'll have to indicate the speed you want your vehicle to go. Once it picks up on the speed, the light will read SET.

Hyundai Veloster Warning Lights

  • Brake Warning Light. This light actually has two meanings. One is that your parking gauge is still engaged. The second meaning is that your system is low on brake fluid. If it's the latter, contact your authorized Hyundai dealer right away.
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Warning. If your engine is running hot, this light will come on, and you should pull over and turn the engine off and let it cool. If the problem persists, contact your Hyundai dealer immediately or schedule a service!
  • Charging System Warning Light. This light looks like a car battery. When your charging system warning light comes on, you should turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment to help prolong your battery life during your trip. Be ready to contact your Hyundai dealer if the system malfunctions and your vehicle can't move.

  • Electric Power Steering Warning Light. If you see this light that consists of a steering wheel next to an exclamation point appear while you're out driving, immediately pull over to safety and don't try to continue your journey. Your vehicle will become increasingly difficult to maneuver when the power steering isn't working.
  • Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light. Pull over to safety when you see this light come on. It looks like a dripping oil can. You should check your oil level. If it's at the right level and the light stays on, contact your Hyundai dealer right away.
