But for those in a rush, the TL;DR is as follows: the same upper-crust production methods (goodyear welt) and materials (Horween leather) as everyone’s favorite Massachusetts-made boot, but about half the price because it’s not US-made. Manufacturing takes place on Xiamen Island, China, to be exact.

The Ottawa provides all the hallmarks of a high-end boot: Aniline Chromexcel tanned in Chicago by Horween, full grain cow lining from Milwaukee, hand-sewn mocc stitching, full-grain leather heel counters and a cork filler with steel shank. And, to ensure there’s no skimping, the leather insole, welt, midsole and outsole are all vegetable tanned. The boot is built on their Leo last, which fits quite similar to the Barrie last from that aforementioned boot maker based in Massachusetts.
