Steve Gold joins Million Dollar Listing New York as new season six broker following fashion modelling career

Million Dollar Listing New York added some serious eye candy for its season six premiere Thursday to go along with the gorgeous homes for sale.

The episode titled Good As Gold introduced a new broker for the Bravo reality show — former male model Steve Gold.

And he was happy to show that 10 years in the real estate business has not damaged his enviable model looks, with him walking around his own home shirtless and showing off rippling hard six-pack abs.

Steve was not embarrassed to let his good looks work for him, too, admitting that a key tactic on getting sales was to 'flirt.'

At one point when he put his charm into overdrive with one female potential buyer, another broker quipped: 'Why don't you guys go and see the master bedroom by yourselves, huh?'

'Not a bad idea,' the smiling potential buyer replied.

Steve insisted that becoming a broker was 'the absolute best thing that's ever happened to me,' explaining: 'They thank you, the smile that you get from your client is a high that you can't get any other way.'

As for his catwalk days, starting when he was 17 and with numerous photos shown onscreen, he said: 'I am super grateful of my time as a model but most of the time I just felt absolutely ridiculous.

'I did one runway show, cowboy hat, short Daisy Dukes — like at the end of the runway rip your shirt open.'

Laughing, he added: 'And I did!'

'Someday my kids are really gonna be making fun of me for this.'

As well as walking around his apartment shirtless, Steve was also shown going through an intense workout at New York's famed Dogpound gym.

The Town Residential broker said of his work: 'Last year I sold well over $100 million in real estate. I want to be the best at what I do, I always have, I've always been a competitor my whole life. So I don't like to be beat by anyone.'

He admitted that the show's Fredrik Eklund regularly tries to headhunt him for his own team, with Steve saying: 'The answer is always no. I have my business, my business is good, what's the point?

'Love ya, but not that much.'

Concentrating on hip downtown neighborhoods, he admitted that he never wears a suit like most brokers, saying of his white t-shirt under a dark jacket: 'Believe it or not this is dressed up for me.

'I don't need to fake being someone I'm not. Someone should hire me because of my knowledge. I am what I am, and so far it's worked for me.'

But that does not mean he does not sometimes get teased, with one suit-wearing broker teasing him over a bright orange puffy vest he was wearing, quipping while they negotiated: 'I really can't hear you over that vest.'

A teaser for the rest of the season suggested his love life may play a part in the show, with him shown on a date and saying later: 'I'd like to find someone that I could spend the rest of my life with. It's just hard to find in the city.'

Love is not the only thing he struggled with in New York, with him admitting he adopted a dog because he 'kind of got lonely' — and also admitting that he 'hated' the city when he first moved 13 years ago from his hometown in Connecticut.

'I remember calling up my mom and crying on the phone, like, ''The city's not for me,'' he recalled, saying he was nicknamed 'Sober Steve' because he did not drink and as a 'very serious kid growing up' he 'found myself very lonely.'

He said with the city it was 'a very, very gradual appreciation that turned to respect that turned to love. Kind of like how a relationship should be I think that's what happened between me and New York City.'

He was also shown struggling with his first listing on the show, a stunning 4,145 square feet duplex in the hip Chelsea area with three terraces.

But the sellers were adamant that it was worth $14 million, while he insisted it was worth $11 million — and only begrudgingly agreed to represent them with their lowest asking price of $12.5 million.

He had negotiated with the seller's son and nephew, both confusingly also named Steve, saying after the negotiations: 'I'm super stoked I got this listing. But I really hope it's the last time I see these kids' also calling the nephew 'a little bit of a d***.'

As he predicted, he struggled to get any interest at all at the high asking price, growing increasingly frustrated as he met them again to explain and they told him: 'That sounds like an agent problem, not a price problem.'

When the seller's son — a New Yorker who initially faked a British accent — insisted they would find someone else if he could not get their desired price, Steve insisted: 'No one's going to do a better job than me.'

'I don't know about that,' the son replied bluntly.

Fredrik, meanwhile, insisted he had gone through a 'crazy' change in his life — finding God.

After buying a weekend home in Roxbury, Connecticut, he said he had started going to church there, saying: 'I never in my life ever thought this was going to happen.'

'Honestly, I feel as if I have been transformed,' he said.

Claiming his time in the Connecticut home was 'really life-changing' he described his idyllic days there with husband Derek Kaplan, saying: 'I come in here and sit in front of the fireplace, walk the grounds and let the dogs run freely, Derek is painting, I'm writing, we drink a glass of wine, we make love, it's crazy.'

After a pause he stressed with a smile: 'But don't get twisted. When it comes to business I am more fierce than I ever was before.

'Relaxing there makes me so energized — and when I come back into the city, commissions are up.'

He bragged: 'My team, my little team of 10 people, closed a billion dollars last year. And another billion dollars in contract waiting to close. It's more than anyone's ever sold in New York City. Ever.'

Still, he got hauled in to see Howard Lorber chairman Douglas Elliman who was upset that Fredrik was not getting a client to make a counter offer when one of Howard's friends offered $10.8 million for a TriBeCa penthouse listed for $12 million.

When he insisted he could not get her to budge from the asking price, Howard told him: 'That's what your getting paid for. You make the big bucks. It's your job to get the client to make a counter.'

But it turned out the homeowner was playing everyone, and her insistence even to Howard that she would not settle for less than $12 million quickly got the offer of $10.8 million up to $11.6 million.

'You know, Fredrik, I just wanted to get to a decent price. That seems like a decent price to me. So yes, you have a deal at 11.6,' she told him to his astonishment.

He had also been excited while showing the property when he realized famed cake designer Sylvia Weinstock was one of those viewing it.

'The best cake maker in the world and I just got to meet her!' he said. 'And she gets to meet me, the best real estate agent in the world. Gotta love it.'

Ryan Serhant, meanwhile, showed off his new beard, and admitted that married life hadn't got off to the start he had imagined.

After he was overheard talking baby names with wife Emilia, he later teased viewers by saying: 'Yes, our little family is more than just Emilia and I.'

But he quickly stressed: 'No. we're not having a baby. But Emilia's sister has come to live with us.'

Her sister, Mariefaye, was seen climbing into their bed in-between them both as they chatted, with Ryan raising his eyes in apparent annoyance.

'Very different from 15-year-old Ryan wanting to be with hot sisters. It can be a tad overwhelming at times,' he said, admitting that it just gave him an excuse to spend more time in the office 'which is a good thing because work is insane.'

The episode saw him working with a real estate attorney who had a staggering 100 homes he wanted to sell after buying them at low prices during the recession and renovating them.

As he was driven around being shown each house, he said: 'Am I in a car for six hours? Sure. But what's three percent of $200 million?'

After the show flashed up that it could be worth $6,000,000 he smiled: 'I will sit in a car all f***ing day. And I've done a lot worse things for listings before.'

Suggesting he was referring to something not fit for a family show, he smiled: 'It's true. Not in cars, though.'

The most amazing home was a 10,000 square feet Georgian-style mansion built in 1905 with 10 bedrooms, a library and even a ballroom on the top floor of the house.

The attorney had wanted $4 million, but Ryan suggested just $3 million as he predicted a least $2 million would have to be spent renovating it.

'This isn't just a remodel. There are literally parts of this house that are crooked,' he said, pointing out a window being held together by tape. 'That needs to be fixed — and that costs a lot of money.'

But he struck gold when the first real viewer, an eager developer who had missed out on too many other Brooklyn homes, fell in love with many of the quirky features Ryan assumed would put off buyers.

'This guy and this house clearly speak the same language,' he said.

He was stunned when the developer immediately offered the full $3 million asking price, saying it would be cash and a 'very fast closing, 30 days.'

'Shut the f*** up!' he said later of his thoughts at the time.

'So much of my job is so hard that when things like this happen I almost don't hear them,' he admitted.
