Six Ruthmanns for Smart
UK-based vehicle mounted rental company Smart Platform Rental has taken delivery of six Ruthmann platforms, including two 33 metre T330s and four 27 metre TB270+ lifts.
Mounted on a 7.5 tonne MAN chassis, the T330 features a five section main boom and an articulated jib, and offers up to 21 metres of outreach with a platform capacity of 100kg, whilst maximum platform capacity is 320kg.
Mounted on a 3.5 tonne Mercedes chassis, the TB270+ has a platform capacity of 230kg, but offers up to 16.4 metres of outreach with a reduced capacity of 100kg.

Managing director Andy Burt said: “Smart has owned Ruthmann products since 2004 and their reputation for innovation and quality is well justified - the T330 was an obvious choice. The TB270+ machines however represents another move forward in self-drive hire with the ever increasing number of renters that can only drive 3.5 tonne the 27 metre is already attracting a lot of interest across many market sectors throughout our five UK rental depots.”

27 mt machine on a 3.5 t truck... I would like to weight the platform and see what the scale says.
Manufacturers started using extremely thin boom to keep the weight down to the detriment of the operators safety.
