The British Science Association is looking for 200 secondary schools in England to participate in research into CREST Awards.

Participating schools will receive £600 funding to take part in a randomised control trial of the Silver CREST Awards in 2017/18 with a group of year 9 students. This is a unique opportunity for your school to make an important contribution to understanding how independent, hands-on project work can affect student achievement and progression in STEM subjects.

This research follows on from the 2016 ‘Quantifying CREST’ report which found that students who took CREST:

  • achieved half a grade higher on their best science GCSE result
  • were more likely to continue with STEM education
  • Free Schools Meal students saw an even larger increase in their best GCSE science score

The deadline for expressions of interest is 21 July 2017. There are limited spaces to participate, and places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
