Many times when you're a fan of a band or artist, you put them up on this untouchable pedestal. They are unreal. They are gods. They are basically like some magical unicorn with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Seeing them in concert is like a culture shock.

"Wow ... so they aren't just a figment of my imagination? They aren't the creation of a perfect world?"

Sometimes, seeing them in concert is enough for you. You have the memories, the photos and your voice is gone for the next few days. These are things that you can look back on when you're older fondly. But sometimes, and I mean sometimes bands will go on tour ... and with them they will bring VIP opportunities.

There are certain emotions that you should be prepared to go through when you find out that your favorite band will have meet and greet available on tour. Sometimes you will experience these emotions one at a time and most times -- all at once. You'll feel: excitement, nervousness, stress and possibly the sensation that you might have to throw up.

Now god forbid, if you're one of the people who did not get to buy the meet and greet opportunity ... let us pray for you. I am truly sorry! There will be other opportunities for you to meet your favorite band and we promise we won't talk about the experience too much to save your feelings.

But, if you did get a VIP bundle ... congrats! You can probably calm down now because waiting for the bundles to go on sale and the actual buying process of said bundle can be extremely stressful. I bet your palms were really sweaty.

Preparing yourself to meet your favorite band is really different than preparing for just a show. For a show, you just have to make sure you remember lyrics, bring enough money for merch, remember where you parked and make sure you don't get trampled in the pit.

For meet and greets, you just have to really understand that not only will you be seeing the band in concert, but you're also going to most likely be front row for the show and the icing on the cake -- meeting them!

Meeting them is just an array of emotions. You feel excited and sick at the same time. What if the meet and greet is cancelled? What if they aren't nice? What if you get rushed around and don't get to spend real time? What if your picture is horrible?

First thing you have to tell yourself is to calm down. Yeah, they are people you look up to -- but they are just regular people in their own right. Sometimes it can get a bit weird to meet with people in the first place but they do it because they love their fans. Treating them like the gods they probably are can probably get a bit weird for them. Expressing your love for them is welcome as long as you don't get weird and treat them differently than you'd treat one of your good friends.

You'll most likely get something signed by them and a then a picture. Most meet and greets go that way. You can get whatever you want signed and have a brief moment to chat with them. Show them a tattoo you got, give them a letter or some art you drew. Artists are typically very appreciative of these gestures and there is no reason to be nervous!

After it's all said and done, and you're standing in your front row spot, you'll realize that you probably had one of the best moments of your life. Your picture is most likely perfect in it's own right and now you have the memory of meeting people that you care about. For years to come, you'll remember these experiences fondly and have stories to tell your children when you're older!
