7 Email Newsletters You Won't Hate

This article is more than 7 years old.

Here's a collection of email newsletters that come highly-recommended by this Forbes editor and will never clog your inbox with irrelevant junk. Promise.

These newsletters cover topics ranging from sports to web design to financial news, which are fields most relevant to my job...

...but please be sure to leave a comment with your own newsletter recommendations, and perhaps I'll do a 2.0 version of this piece in the future!

Casual Spectator

One or two emails per week

Sports News

Just like the name suggests, Casual Spectator is created for the casual sports fan. In each "issue," you'll get the top sports stories, viral videos and quotes of the moment along with some witty, well-written nutshell descriptions for each.

This one is a great subscription for those who like to stay informed without completely immersing themselves in sports.

Web Designer News

Daily emails

Design news and assets

For those of us obsessed with all things visual, Web Designer News does a great job curating articles and resources for all things web design. At the very least, you'll find a couple cool fonts or well-designed websites. At most...well, the sky is pretty much the limit.

Dealjumbo

Daily emails

Free/cheap design elements

I look forward to this one every day because who doesn't love free stuff? Dealjumbo rounds up great deals on fonts, textures, Photoshop templates, icons, stock photos, etc. from around the web and delivers them to your inbox. Each email will include deals for creative assets like the ones I mentioned, but here's the best part:

At the bottom of each email, you'll find links to download two "freebies" for...well, free. And they're mostly the kind of stuff you'll actually use.

Finimize

Daily emails

Financial News

Let's face it: financial news can be so dense or nuanced that it can seem pretty daunting to the average reader, but Finimize breaks down the latest markets stories in a way that makes sense to everyone. The site also arranges its analysis into the subsections "What's going on here?," "What does this mean?" and "Why should I care?"

Super digestible and well-written. A+

SportTechie

Daily emails

Sports tech

The number of times the worlds of sport and technology intersect is actually pretty substantial, and SportTechie's daily newsletter is as comprehensive as you'll find in a sports tech newsletter. It even provides links to articles outside of the SportTechie domain as well as sports tech career board and a calendar of upcoming events related to the field.

Barn Images

Weekly emails

Stock Images

Barn Images is one of several stock image sites that send weekly emails with the newest photos added to their collections. The best part is they're free to use for commercial and non-commercial purposes. Other sites with similar newsletters include Death to the Stock Photo, StockSnap, Snapwire, Picjumbo (daily emails) and Unsplash.

Gallup

Weekly emails

Public opinion

Gallup is a great source of public opinion data for all things political and financial, and the company's weekly newsletter won't clog you inbox while it keeps you up to speed on the current climate (nationally and globally).
