Update: LeBron James recently announced he decision to move his talents from northeast Ohio to sunny Los Angeles, but not before the official opening of his I Promise School.

The school officially opened on Monday, July 30, where according to Sports Illustrated, James is slated to speak on the school, and his decision to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Akron native took to Twitter to express his overall excitement for "one of the greatest moments of his life."

"The jitters before the first day of school are real right now!!! Tomorrow is going to be one of the greatest moments (if not the greatest) of my life when we open the #IPROMISE School," James wrote. "This skinny kid from Akron who missed 83 days of school in the 4th grade had big dreams for the kids in Akron to give them everything they could need to find their passion, give back to our community and change the world!! This school is that. The people are that. Akron is that. @LJFamFoundation we've always done it big."

Children qualify for the school based on socioeconomic and performance factors. The elementary school which caters to third and fourth graders also promises its students a post secondary education. The NBA Champ promised full tuition to the University of Akron upon completion, according to Sports Illustrated.

No matter where Bron decides to play professionally, he has solidified himself as a hometown hero.

Original story: LeBron James has always been one to put on for his city. His next community venture will seek to do that tenfold.

According to an announcement posted on his foundation's Facebook page, the championship athlete will be putting education first with the I PROMISE school in Akron, Ohio. The school, featuring both elementary and secondary levels, will focus on STEM studies.

"This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most – those that could fall through the cracks if we don't do something,'' James said in an interview with the Associated Press. "We've learned over the years what works and what motivates them, and now we can bring all of that together in one place along with the right resources and experts."

The superintendent for Akron public schools, David James, is just as enthused about the school and the opportunities it will open up for the students of the district. "We've seen the positive influence of the LeBron James Family Foundation on our students and we look forward to continuing to do everything we can to put our students in a position to be successful."

The school program is slated to begin Fall 2018.

Bravo, Bron-Bron!
