Another month, another round of classic cinema hits North Carolina’s triangle area!

In Durham, the Carolina Theatre hosts retro double features as part of its Retro Film Series on Friday evenings. Showtime is (approximately) 7 and there are awesome door prizes. April 14 sees a pair of Humphrey Bogart gems “The African Queen” and “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” on the big screen. Friday, April 21 ushers “Terry Gilliam’s Adventures of Baron Munchausen” and “Monty Python’s And Now for Something Completely Different” onto back to the box office. Closing out the month, sci-fi cult classic “Brainstorm” is paired with Sean Connery thriller “Outland.” (Shameless plug: Cup of Moe is sponsoring “Brainstorm,” which stars Christopher Walken and was shot in the RTP area of North Carolina). So you should definitely come out for “Brainstorm.” And every other Retro Film Series entry for that matter.

Meanwhile in Raleigh, Ambassador Cinemas hosts retro goodies in its various series. As its 75th anniversary party, Rialto Theatre in Raleigh airs “Singin’ in the Rain” on April 5 starting at 7 PM. Part of its Cinema Overdrive series celebrating unique, zany movies, Ambassador Cinemas hosts a double feature of Daisies” and “Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.” This is a Czech new wave double header aimed to please. Monday at the Movies presents a classic film on the third Monday of the month. April 2017 screens “The Princess Bride” at the Rialto Theatre. Movies start at 7.

Also in Raleigh, the NC Museum of Art hosts its Spring film series. On Friday, April 14 “All About Eve” airs. “King of Jazz” follows on April 21. Friday April 28 features “Don’t Look Now,” with “Wings of the Dove” on May 5. To close out its Spring series, “Casanova” plays on May 12. Showtimes are 7:30-8.

Silverspot Cinema in Chapel Hill, Park West 14 in Morrisville, and Wakefield 12 in Raleigh feature a bevy of classics in the Flashback Cinema series. April 2 and 5 bring “The Never Ending Story” to the box office again. Catch “The Ten Commandments” on April 9 and 12, just in time for Easter. On April 16 and 19, “Hello Dolly!” plays. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr classic “An Affair to Remember” hits Flashback Cinema on April 23 and 26. Then Double indemnity soars to the silverscreen on April 30.

Fathom Events holds its retro goodies as well. Catch Alfred Hitchcock classic “North by Northwest” on April 2 and 5. If you love cult films, and unabashedly, unintentionally terrible (but enjoyable) films, check out “Samurai Cop” complete with a life Riff Trax experience on April 13 and 18. On April 23 and 26, “The Graduate” plays in participating cinemas.
